Travel between Juneau & Haines/Skagway might include a voyage on one of these two vendors... while not quite the same as an "Alaskan cruise", the views are definitely prettier, and there really is NO better way to view Taiya Inlet than in the daylight!
The Fjord Express links Juneau with Upper Lynn Canal. Haines & Skagway are just a few hours reach onboard Alaska Fjordlines' high speed catamarans.
The catamarans seat 48 passengers in an enclosed cabin, with a large rear deck area and bathroom. Wide windows offer exceptional views as you are whisked to & from Juneau.
Alaska Marine Highway
The Alaska Marine Highway provides service all over Southeast Alaska. The ships, often called the "Blue Canoe", provide a vital lifeline to most of Southeast Alaska - as many villages and cities are reachable ONLY by sea or air.
The ferries provide an amazing opportunity to see Alaska's marine wild life & coastlines during the daylight hours - something you will not get to experience when on a cruise. All ferries have multiple seating areas & seating types, wide open deck spaces, and lounge chairs in the solarium.
The AMH ferries are equipped with restrooms and a snack bar. There is no full service restaurant, no bars, and no wifi available on the ships.
Power plugs are located throughout the ships if you need to charge your phone.
